“So it happens, therefore, that every element says something to someone (something different to each) like the mountain valleys or beaches visited in youth. One must perhaps make an exception for carbon, because it says everything to everyone…” PRIMO LEVI

In CC.512, students develop the skills to analyze the structure and reactivity of organic (carbon-based) molecules.

Unit 1: Structure and Reactivity
Unit 2A: Alkenes and Alkynes
Unit 2B: Substitution and Elimination Reactions
Unit 3A: Carbonyl (C=O) Chemistry
Unit 3B: Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution

This class is limited to 25 students, and priority goes to Concourse students. If space allows, we accept (in the following order) first-year ESG students, upper-level ESG students, and first-year students from other learning communities. Please note that we do not currently expect to have space for students outside of Concourse and the fist year of ESG.
