Friday Seminar

Weekly Friday lunch seminar with all faculty and students

Fall seminars include readings and discussion over lunch on foundational questions that span the disciplines. Topics include:

  • What is education?
  • Technology: the good, the bad, and the ugly
  • The politics of physics
  • The “elements” of the meaning of life
  • What is the difference between evidence and proof?
  • What is eudaimonia?
  • Art and understanding
  • How free should speech be?

Spring seminars include MIT faculty from various disciplines discussing the questions pursued by their own work as well as student-organized and student-led debates on hot-button issues of the day.

All Friday seminars include time to check in with your own advisor and/or other Concourse faculty.
